Mini Haul!

Hey everyone!!

I did a little bit of online shopping and I got a few things from Sephora! I thought it would be fun to share what I picked up :)

First thing I got is the Benefit High Brow highlighting pencil.

This is a pencil that you use to highlight your brow bone and inner corners of the eyes. It is a really nice matte pink toned pencil.

I've used it a few times already and I love it! It is the perfect highlight for my brow bone. It's very creamy and super easy to blend. Highlighting my brow bone is a step I often forget, but this pencil makes it easy for me to remember! I don't really know why the pencil makes it easy for me to remeber....maybe because I'm excited to use a new product.

This product is expensive for what it is ($20 at Sephora) so I will be looking for a good drugstore alternative. Although I like this pencil very much, if I find a cheaper alternative I probably won't repurchase it.

Next thing I got is the Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel in Blonde.

I bought this because I was looking for something to make my eye brows darker and more noticeable when I don't have time to fill them in with powder. I've used it twice so far, and it does exactly what I wanted it to do!

I do have to say that the wand is bigger than I expected, and I feel that the product gets slightly outside of my eye brows and I have to clean it up a bit. That doesn't stop me from loving it though!

I did a whole post about this product and other products I use for my eye brows. Click here to see it!

My birthday was 3 weeks ago and since I'm enrolled in Sephora's rewards program, I got a free birthday gift! Yay!

I had a few options, but I chose the Fresh Sugar mini lip duo. I've been wanting to try this stuff for a while now.

Please excuse my naked nails :)

The little kit comes with two of the lip balms, the mini Sugar lip treatment with SPF 15 and the mini Sugar Rosé tinted lip treatment with SPF 15.

I've heard amazing things about this lip balm but I've always been hesitant to try because of its big price tag ($25 for a lip balm? What?!). I tried the clear one twice so far, and I like my Nivea minty lip balm that I carry around with me better. This Fresh Sugar one is nothing special. I am SO GLAD I got it for free.

I stopped off at Walgreens and picked up one thing, the Maybelline gel eyeliner in Espresso.

I own this gel liner already in black and I like it very much, so I decided to pick up the brown one. It even comes with a little brush!

I also went on Amazon.com and got two books that I am EXTREMELY excited about!!!

I got these two Lauren Conrad books! I can not wait to read them. I've skimmed through them already and they look awesome.

So that's all for my little haul!

Nivea Lip Butter: A review

Hey everyone!!

I've always had problems finding a good, hydrating lip balm....until I found this one!

The Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla and Macadamia Kiss is definitely my favorite lip balm ever! I use it every night before I go to bed and I wake up with smooth, moisturized lips.

The lip butter is packaged in a tin that is sturdy and doesn't seem like it would open up easily if you were to throw it in your bag. Since it does come in a pot, I don't like to use it while I'm out and about. Like I said above, I use this every night before I go to sleep.

This lip butter comes in 4 scents or "flavors"; Vanilla and Macadamia Kiss, Caramel Kiss, Raspberry Rosé Kiss, and Smooth Kiss.

Now onto why I was SO HAPPY this product worked for me.

For some reason, my lips DO NOT react well to a bunch of different lip products.

For example:

-Blistex
-Burts Bees
-Carmex

ALL of these made my lips break out.

The worst time was when I bought a MAC lip conditioner. I used it for a few days and loved it! I loved the way it smelled and felt on my lips. All of a sudden I woke up with bumps all over my lips. Needless to say, I never used that again.

Lucky for me, the Nivea lip butter in Vanilla and Macadamia Kiss smells exactly like the MAC one! I was so happy when I first used it.

So, if you're looking for a good MAC lip conditioner dupe, here it is! It smells amazing and moisturizes my lips. The best part? My lips don't break out from it!!

Have you used any of the new Nivea Lip Butters yet? Which one is your favorite!

Check out the Nivea lip butters here!

See you next time! :)

All about eyebrows! My journey with my brows

Hey there everyone!

Today I will be writing all about my eyebrows and what I have learned so far about filling them in!

I have very recently (within the past month or two) discovered that filling in your eyebrows really does make a huge difference when doing your makeup. I have blonde hair, so naturally my eyebrows are blonde. They are extremely sparse and light. I've always been self conscious of them, they just never looked good to me. I've never had my eyebrows professionally done since they are so thin and sparse, and I've always been so afraid the people would go crazy and wax them completely off! My brows never really need too much upkeep, so all I do is tweeze a few stray hairs here and there.

About a year ago I decided I wanted to try to fill them in everyday, so I went to the MAC store and bought one of their eyebrow pencils. I'm not quite sure why I didn't go to the drugstore and buy a cheaper eyebrow pencil. I believe it was because of all the hype about MAC on YouTube, but I digress.

I purchased the MAC eyebrow pencil in Fling.

I tried filling in my brows, but after having extremely light, almost non-existent brows all my life, I was a little taken back when I looked at myself with darker brows. I felt slightly uncomfortable- like it was too dark for my hair and skin tone.

I used this pencil sporadically throughout the year, but I never really got in the habit of filling in my eyebrows every day.

Recently, I started using this product again. I thought it still looked a little harsh, but I definitely looked much better with filled in brows than with barely there brows. I began using this every day and started really loving how I looked with my eyebrows filled in. I decided it was time to try new products!

I love watching beauty videos on YouTube and a lot of beauty gurus fill in their eyebrows with powder, so I really wanted to give a powder product a try.

So I asked for the Anastasia Brow powder duo in Blonde for my birthday.

Love the packaging!

I used this and instantly fell in love. This powder is amazing!! I love the way it makes my eyebrows look. I feel like it makes my eyebrows look natural, like I didn't use a pencil to fill them in. I use a mix of both colors for most of my brows, and then I use the darker color for the tail of my brows. After I use the brow powder, I set my brows using the Maybelline Great Lash clear mascara.

I find myself using this product every day, and my MAC pencil has been pushed off to the side. It's not that the pencil is bad in anyway, I just really like the look of the powder a lot better.

I like to apply this powder with an angled brow brush.

This is a MAC 266SE that I got in a set with 4 other brushes. I think its from two Christmases ago? I picked it up over a year ago at my local Cosmetic Company Store.

The one thing I do like better about the pencil is that it is definitely easier for me to give my brows more shape when I use it. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to use the powder, but I do feel like it is harder to shape my brows and give them more of an arch using the powder.

Quick Recap!
-I never used to fill in my eyebrows.
-I started filling in my brows using a pencil.
-Now I am using a brow powder to fill in my eyebrows.

Are you with me? Yes? Good. :)

Now that I feel confident with my brow filling-in abilities, I want to branch out and try other products. One product I was on the hunt for was a tinted brow gel.

You see, I love filling in my brows using the Anastasia brow powder, but it is very time consuming. I take my time when I do my makeup, so it takes me at least 5-10 minutes just to do my brows. On days when I'm running late I leave my brows naked! I've been wanting to try out a tinted brow gel to see if it would be a good product to just swipe on and go!

My search for a drugstore tinted brow gel was unsuccessful, so I decided to just take the plunge and try out the Anastasia tined brow gel in Blonde.

It came in the mail today!!

I've only used this once- so far I like it! It does exactly what I wanted it to do, slightly tint my brows so they are not so invisible when I don't have time to do the whole routine. It's the perfect color- not too light but not too dark. It also has the smallest amount of shimmer in it, but once it dries you don't notice it at all!

I started out with one coat, waited for it to dry, then I added another coat. I do think that this makes my brows feel crunchy, but I don't touch my brows at all during the day, so it's not really a big deal to me.

So....that's my brow story!! I will update you on the tinted brow gel and my thoughts about it after I've tried it out a little more.

Have you tried ANY of these products? Do you like them? Have you just discovered how to fill in your eyebrows? Hope this helped!!

LUSH Creamed Almond and Coconut Shower Smoothie: A review

Hello everyone!!

Today I will be talking about one of my favorite shower products EVER; LUSH's Creamed Almond and Coconut Shower Smoothie.

This product is basically an extremely creamy body wash. The description reads:

"Sumptuously soothing, creamy almond and coconut oil, and jasmine smoothie to gently cleanse and moisturize dry or irritated skin."

The texture of this is quite smooth, it feels wonderful when you rub it on the skin. It has an amazing smell, the notes I detect are vanilla and almond. It is a very sweet smell, almost like a cookie- but not quite as strong and it's not a sickly sweet smell. Oddly enough, I don't smell any coconut.

Please excuse my finger marks :)

My favorite way to use this product is to use this in place of a shaving cream when I shave my legs. I do not use it every single time I shave my legs, as I like this to be more of a special, "every once in a while" product. My legs have never felt as smooth as they do when I shave my legs with this!

About every 3 weeks or so I will use this for its purpose, as a body wash. My goodness it makes my skin feel and smell wonderful. It lathers up nicely, but not as much as a regular body wash would. I put this product directly on my hands and rub it all over. I feel like it works this way the best as opposed to using a wash cloth or a shower poof. Since this product is quite pricey (it retails for $21.95) I tend to treasure it and save it for as long as I can!

This is an extremely luxurious product, that makes my skin feel smooth and smell delicious. I use this product at least once a week, and it lasts me 6 months. The last time I opened a new pot of this was in early January and I just opened a new one about a week or two ago. I am on my third pot of this stuff...I can't live without it!

Have you tried the Almond and Coconut Shower Smoothie? What do you think? Do you love it as much as I do?!

What is Simply Glamorous?

Hi!!! Welcome to my brand new beauty blog!

This blog is all about beauty and the products that we ladies (and some men) use to enhance our natural selves. I will give you my honest opinion. If I really hate something, why not blog about it?! If I really love a product, then I will definitely be blogging about it.

Simply Glamorous is all about being glamorous, but doing so in a simple way. A guide to natural, easy, simple everyday beauty. I'm all about enhancing natural beauty, not covering up our beautiful faces!

So who am I?

I'm Jeannine! A girl in her early 20's who loves to play with makeup. About a year ago I moved to central Florida from Long Island, NY. It was a big move, but I am happier than ever living here! I am working full time and when I'm not working, I'm going on "adventures" to fun, new places and exploring all Florida has to offer with some awesome friends! Currently, I am not attending school. I'm not quite sure if college is right for me, but thats a different conversation for a different time. In my free time, I love to play around with my makeup and try out some fun new looks :)

Let me just say, I am by no means a professional of any kind! I am still quite new to makeup, and I thought it would be fun to share the thoughts of a girl who is still learning how to be her most beautiful self.

So that's me and that's what this blog will be all about...beauty, and maybe some fashion thrown in here and there. I can't wait to get started!

Talk to you soon, and remember, being yourself is the most beautiful person you can be.
